Red wine, tea, coffee, curries etc and/or smoking, can, over
the years have an adverse effect on the whiteness of your teeth
enamel. In addition, acidic foods such as citrus fruits and vinegar
contribute to enamel erosion.
As a result the surface becomes more transparent and more of
the yellow-coloured dentin shows through. Age also affects our
teeth as a result of years of stain accumulation and normal wear
and tear.
Teeth are one of the first things we notice about a person, as
we normally focus on the mouth when we are talking to them. Having
this simple, safe cosmetic procedure can change your life instantly!
It will give you more confidence to talk and also to smile, and
it will help you to look years younger. Laser teeth whitening
can be the answer to you getting that promotion, new job or even
a new partner.
Questions and Answers
How long does the treatment take?
You only require one short visit. The actual
treatment takes around one hour. During the process you simply
sit back and relax, perhaps listening to music. With our advanced
technology, you will see instant results.
Does it hurt?
Occasionally you may feel a small degree of sensitivity, however
this is for a short period of time and we offer a desensitising
gel to eliminate this.
How does it work?
The surface of the teeth contains millions of microscopic pores.
Over the years, compounds from food and drink, tobacco etc, penetrate
this and causes the tooth enamel to discolour. Teeth whitening
gel is gently applied to the teeth and activated when a soft laser
light is focused on them. This then releases the debris from the
pores and whitens the teeth.
Is laser whitening the same as teeth whitening
kits purchased from shops?
Definitely not! Firstly, Trading Standards
found that 14 out of 17 different whitening kits tested contained
illegal amounts of chemicals that could have caused harm. Lasers
used by professional teeth whitening specialist are up to 100%
better than whitening gels purchased from shops and costs are
only marginally higher. With home kits, you often have to wear
gum shields for up to 14 nights, whereas with laser treatment,
it's a simple 1 hour procedure.
How much lighter will my teeth go?
You can typically expect your teeth to go
between 5 -10 shades lighter immediately. At your free consultation
we will provide you with realistic expectations.
Is it similar to the treatment my dentist
offers?
This depends on the system the dentist uses.
The majority of dental practices do not have laser technology.
They simply sell patients home kits similar to those you can purchase
over the counter. Some use lasers, but not all systems are the
same.
Who undertakes the treatment?
Your treatment will be undertaken by fully
qualified and experienced professionals, who specialise in laser
teeth whitening.
Does whitening work on veneers, crowns etc?
The treatment will be effective; however,
we can only take the colour back to what it was when the crown/veneer
was fitted, as the colour was determined by the shade of your
teeth at that time.
Does whitening damage the enamel of the
teeth?
No. Studies have shown that drinking a small
glass of fruit juice per day will cause 100 times more damage
to your enamel because of the acid in the drink.
Is it safe?
The procedure is completely safe. Laser teeth
whitening has been performed for many years with millions having
successfully undergone this treatment.
